Canals, sea and land. 26 centuries of winegrowing

More than just a pretty beach!
Our tour takes you on a journey through the unique basalt terroirs of the Languedoc, to the watery crossroads between the Canal du Midi, a UNESCO-listed monument, the Étang de Thau, the sea and the Hérault river. From Agde, the ‘black pearl’ built by the Greeks, who planted the first vines 26 centuries ago, the Romans then set about developing the Phocaean city of Marseillan, to the new resort of Cap d’Agde that grew when the region was redeveloped, the coastline is a journey through history and time itself. The vines extend as far as the eye can see in criss-crossing lines, and include 3 AOP wines and 5 PGI varieties.
